You can hear her laughing from 5th Avenue

She swears it's genetic: that's what happens when you're born Latina. You are blessed with a hyena-level laugh (both in tone and volume) the moment your mouth draws breath.

Melanie was born in Philadelphia to Mexican and Argentinean parents and raised 20 minutes south of the city in a small suburb. Growing up, she spent most of her free time studying classical ballet, writing songs in her bedroom, and renting movies from Blockbuster (RIP).

Armed with the dreams of one day becoming a cross between J.Lo and Taylor Swift (movies, music, Latin glamour!), she left PA to attend NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.

Sadly, a grueling art school experience and multiple other factors led Melanie to develop severe self-doubt and anxiety as it related to her music career.

After a failed stint with a developing Latina pop band (see: multiple other factors), she moved to Los Angeles in 2017 to work as a screen actor and set music aside.

It was only during the COVID-19 pandemic that Melanie became faced with the impermanence and brevity of life itself. Time away from society makes you ask certain questions of yourself… Like, “Why should fear have the final word?”

Slowly but surely, her love of music began to bubble back to the surface. And soon, years of struggle began to turn into something else – sheer determination. She returned to NYC with her husband and decided to seek professional help to overcome her struggles and finally pursue her childhood dream of music – for real.

Her hope is to inspire others to not let fear stop them from being who they truly are.

Melanie’s debut single, ‘Do You Ever',’ dropped in Spring of 2022.
